Referees

The Committee are proposing to run a course at Bramcote for Royal Signals personnel. The aim is to ensure that every unit has the right level of support and correctly qualified personnel. The new Development Officer, Major Kennedy, will co-ordinate the activity and will be in touch with units and their rugby officers. Keep monitoring this page for more details.

We are currently attempting to identify and track the number of qualified referees across the Corps. All qualified referees are asked to contact SO2 HERRICK, HQ SOinC(A) on (94371) 5017.

(Please note that this is not the point of contact for the Army v Navy tickets!)
.
The list of upcoming courses is available on the ARU website at http://www.aru.org.uk/aru-arurs-train.htm. As with coaches, our aim is to get at least one accredited coach in each unit by the end of 2012, so if you are injured or getting a bit too old to hobble around on the park (you know who you are) then get off of your backside and get booked onto a course. We would also like to see an increasing number of retired scrum half’s become referees just so you know what it’s been like for them having to put up with you for all those years. Don’t worry if you’re out of shape because you can just blow up and stop the game for a breather!!!
Without an official there will be thirty odd blokes who won’t have a run out. If you don't get out on a Wednesday afternoon, someone will fill your time with incredibly important operational work that wasn't there before (trust me – I am that someone finding work for all the sporting luddites)
