The Criteria for Club Colours

We are getting an increasing number of enquiries about the awarding of Royal Corps of Signals Colours for Rugby and what the criteria are.
The easy answer is that there are no set criteria!
Unlike other corps sports we do not award colours after someone has simply played a certain number of games. Colours are awarded for a variety of reasons such as: players who have made an outstanding contribution to the Club, both on and off the pitch, for a number of seasons; players who have shown consistent dedication in making themselves available for matches despite operational or personal commitments; or for personnel who make a significant contribution towards rugby at any level across the Corps, be they players, management, referees, or coaches.
The Committee will meet at the end of every season in order to make suitable preparations for the coming year. A key part of the Agenda at this meeting will be to discuss the award of Corps Colours for Rugby. To this end it is important that you raise any potential nominees, along with a justification, to a member of the Committee at the end of the season. Individuals will also be discussed without nominations from outside of the Committee and the awards will be announced on this website and in the Wire.
Players who decide to leave the Club prior to their departure from the Army are unlikely to receive colours simply for having played a few times over the course of a couple of seasons. If they decide to stop playing due to old age, incompetence or injury, but continue to assist with running the Club, or return after they have a little more time at work, then they will be awarded their colours (you know who you are!).

Until now we have had no record of who has been awarded colours and we will look to see if we can change this and display a roll of honour on this website to show who has earned this prestigious award.
